Best Motorcycle Dash Cam

Waterproof, vibration-proof, and nowhere to hide — what a bike camera has to survive that a car's never will.

best motorcycle dash cam

A motorcycle dash cam is a different animal entirely

A motorcycle dash cam has to do everything a car camera does — while surviving rain, constant vibration, and having nowhere to hide. No climate-controlled cabin. No easy cable routing. No windshield to tuck behind.

And the stakes are higher. Riders are vulnerable, often blamed by default in a dispute, and have no crumple zone protecting them. Footage isn’t just useful — it can be the difference between justice and a bad outcome.

The requirements here are specific. Don’t compromise on any of them.

Must-have features

  • Waterproof, weatherproof camera heads (IP67 or better) — the lenses live fully exposed to rain, spray, and road grime
  • Front + rear (two cameras: road ahead and behind) — rear coverage matters even more on a bike, where you can’t easily glance back and tailgating is a real danger
  • Vibration-resistant mounting with a separate recorder — the recorder body tucks under the seat; only the small camera heads sit outside
  • Wired remote or app control — you cannot fiddle with a screen mid-ride
  • Strong low-light sensor — bikes get ridden at all hours, including the hours when roads are hardest to read

Nice-to-haves

  • GPS for speed and route logging on every clip
  • Discreet form that doesn’t announce itself at a stoplight
  • A simple, clean power tap — bikes have limited electrical headroom and you don’t want a wiring nightmare

What to skip

Built-in screens. You’ll never look at them while riding. Spend that budget on better waterproofing and a solid rear channel instead — those are the specs that matter on a bike.
